So, I'm in Mexico!

Hna Nielsen con Presidente and Sis Carreon

So Im in Mexico. Thats cool. Its pretty muhc nothing like I imagined. I wish I had more time to tell you everything. Our casa was trashed when we got here. We spent hours cleaning it. But its not too bad to live in now. Except its freezing. I dont understand. Its warm outside but freezing in our house. especially at night. I sleep with 3 blankets and 2 sheets and still freeze. We have hot water in the shower...for about 6 seconds. 7 if youre lucky.
We have a few investigators. Alberto Garcia. I invited him to be baptized and he accepted. Teresa. Familia Pacheco. Vicky. and Rafael. Vicky and Rafael we found, but the others were people the elders were teaching before they left.My companion is Hermana Bautista. She speaks 0 english..wait. that{s a lie. She speaks a little english. Like 4 or 5 words. haha She is from Distrito Federal, shes 26. Shes pretty nice. we get along pretty well.
I understand a lot of spanish. My problem is that my brain works so hard to translate that someitmes it gets tired and i accidentally stop listening. but I cant talk to anyone. Its so frustrating. i know that people cry on the inside when i teach my parts of the lesson or pray because im slaughtering their language. Stop signs might as well not exist. people dont use them. it scares me to be in cars with people. especially on buses. the other day our bus driver was texting. no big deal.
Can I just tell you how funny it probably is to see me and my comp walking around the streets of mexico trying to navigate the map. You can imagine it and laugh, because its ridiculous. I have to figure out where to go because my comp, bless her heart, cant use the map very well. Also, she doesnt remember names of people or streets. So thats my job too. can you imagine how bad of shape we are in because of that. But its good. We will learn. They play american songs on the radio all the time in public places. but they dont censor the swear words, so thats fun for me. haha
Theres a zoo in our backyard. And Im not joking. The Mexicali Bosque y Zoo is right behind our house. And we hear the elefante all the time. Especially early mornings and night time. haha Its great.
The food has only made me nauseous one time. And it was when our ward mission leader bought us cheap tacos at a restaurant. So we wont be doing that again. I hear that some of the hermanas that came with me from the US have been really sick adjusting to the food. But i havent had problems with any of the food they serve us at members houses.
The only embarassing thing that has happened so far happened at the ward christmas party. A lady asked where <i was from, so i told her Utah. Then she said that Utah is really beautiful, so I said Yeah! I know! I agree! Then my companion told me that the lady was telling me that I was beautiful. So i felt stupid...apart from yesterday, ive seen someone painting their house every single day. apparently you can just do that whenever you want.
Mom! Theres a lady here that comes every week from California for Young Womens. She says to send the letters and packages to her house and i will get them every week. Other than that, ill get them once a month. and i missed this months time. so i wont get that package you were talking about until sometime in january. (Note from Sherece: Email me if you want her address sherecenielsen@gmail.com)
I think that's all. Things here are hard, but good. Love you all
Ill be on to skype on wednesday at 6 my time. for 45 minutes.
Love you all! Thanks for everything
Hermana Nielsen
